Saving Student Assignment and Quiz Submissions Outside of Moodle

This article discusses how course instructors can save student assignment and quiz submissions outside of Moodle for use in projects such as Promotion and Tenure documentation.

Open your course

  • Log into Moodle at moodle.elon.edu.
  • Open the course containing the student work you'd like to save. 
  • Navigate to the activity with students submissions that you'd like to save: 
    • Select the activity (assignment or quiz) from the course index. 
    • Alternatively, you can navigate to the Grades tab, and open the activity from the Grades area.

Downloading Assignment Submissions

  • Select an assignment to open the assignment submission window. 
  • Select Submissions from the top navigation menu.

  • In the Submissions window, select the Actions button, and select Download all submissions.
  • This will save a folder containing student submissions to your device.

Downloading Quiz Data

  • Select a quiz to open the quiz submission window. Select Results from the top navigation menu.

  • Select the type of data you'd like to download using the drop-down menu on the upper left side of the results page. Options include:
    • Grades
    • Responses
    • Statistics
    • Download essay responses

  • Scroll down to the quiz results area. Select Download data table as and select the format you prefer (i.e. .csv, Excel). Select the Download button.
  • This will download the document to your device.
