Install SAS On Your Personal Computer

  • Please note that this process is only available to faculty and students and will not work on Elon-owned computers.
  • This option is NOT available for Mac computers. 
  • You must be ON campus to perform this installation.
  • Follow these instructions at your own discretion as Campus Technology Support will not assist with the installation of or troubleshooting problems on personal computers.
  • If you have a previous version of SAS on your computer, it is recommended that you uninstall the previous version before installing this version of SAS.
Please note that SAS is a large program that will take approximately 1 hour to install. Please have patience during this process.

1.) Navigate to the following location: Start -> Accessories -> Run; in the 'Run' field, copy and paste the below information into the field:

  • Copy and paste the following: \\homedir.elon.edu\dept\CTS\share\installers\SAS\SASSoftwareDepot\setup.exe

2.) You will need to sign in with your Elon username and password

  • Students will need to enter their username in as: FS\username
  • Faculty will not receive this prompt on a University-owned computer. If faculty are using a personal computer to download this software, they will need to enter their username in as: FS\username

3.) Click 'Run'

5.) The Deployment Wizard will deploy and run

6.) Select your Language

7.) Make sure 'Install SAS software' is selected and click 'Next'

8.) Click 'Next'

9.) Make sure 'Install SAS Foundation and Related Software' is selected and click 'Next'

10.) Click 'Next' (the default selections are made for you)

11.) Click 'Next' (the defaults are already selected for you)

12.) Click 'Next'

15.) Ensure 'SAS Foundation' is selected and click 'Next'

16.) When the system check completes, click 'Next'

17.) Click 'Start' and the installation will now begin

20.) Click 'Finish'

21.) To open SAS, launch the program from Start -> All Programs -> SAS -> SAS 9.4
