Area Summary

The Violet Hoffman Daniel Commons serves as a multipurpose area. The room may be split into room 116, a lounge/study area, and room 117, a dedicated classroom. In addition, the separating wall may be retracted and the whole room may then serve as a conference room.

This room serves as a lounge or study area when the separating wall is in place. It has seating for approximately 25 people.

How to use Room: Base Level Operations

  1. To power the television on, press the power button located on the bottom left side of the television, or press the power button on the remote, which is attached to the television on the bottom right side
  2. Select channels using either the channel buttons located on the bottom left side of the television, or press the channel buttons on the remote, which is attached to the television on the bottom right side
  3. Use the wallplate and provided cords, located directly below the television, to connect a device to the television.
  4. To power the television off, press the power button located on the bottom left side of the television, or press the power button on the remote, which is attached to the television on the bottom right side

1.) Television (Sharp)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. To power the television on, press the power button located on the bottom left side of the television, or press the power button on the remote, which is attached to the television on the bottom right side

2.) Wall Plate (Extron)

Product Description

The Extron WPB 109 wallplate for HDMI, VGA, and Stereo Audio is specifically designed for a standard one gang-sized junction box. It features a pass-through VGA female to VGA female on 6” pigtail, HDMI female adapter on 10” pigtail, and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack to captive screw for ease of integration in classrooms, conference rooms, and other facilities where convenient, wall-mounted AV connectivity is required. The HDMI and VGA cables facilitate DDC transmission, such as of EDID communications and HDCP key exchange, between the display and the source. The WPB 109 wallplate is made of metal and is available in black or white finish.

Basic Operating Instructions

  • Featured in the picture above are three different means of cord connection to the main system. Click the picture to view more.

Audio

  1. Identify the first plug-in on the wall plate, as this is where you can connect any available AUX cord to your device.  
  2. Insert the AUX cord from your device (either a computer, iPod, cell-phone, etc.) and into the corresponding AUX plug-in.
  3. You should then be able to adjust the volume via your own specific device in connection to the main system.
  4. In the event that the audio does not connect properly, always check your volume settings under 'playback devices' and make sure the device you are connecting to is dispalyed.  If not, either wait for the device to add itself OR try re-connecting the device.

Computer

  1. Identify the middle plug-in on the Extron panel, as this is where you can connect your computer to the main system.
  2. Insert the computer/ VGA cord into the corresponding middle plug-in.
  3. You should then be able to directly connect your computer to the system.

HDMI

  1. Identify the bottom plug-in on the Wall Plate, as this is where you can connect your device to the main system.
  2. Insert the HDMI cord into the corresponding plug-in from your device.
  3. Your device will then be connected to the necessary equipment.

Room 117

   

 

 

This room serves as a dedicated classroom when the partition wall is in place. Room 117 has seating for approximately 40 people.

How to Use Room: Base Level Operations

  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  4. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (Desktop, HMDI, VGA, composite, DVD/VCR, TV, CD, Doc Cam, and AUX).
  5. Turn the system off by pressing the System Off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.
  6. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (Click the windows button in the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window).

1.) Desktop (Dell)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  4. Select Desktop from computer inputs to display the desktop on the projector screen.
  5. To power the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control.
  6. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (Click the windows button in the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window).

 

2.) Touch Screen Control

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the screen to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  2. Freeze the screen by pressing image mute in the top left corner of the touch panel. Use the buttons to raise and lower the projector screen.
  3. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input.
    1. Computer/device inputs (HDMI and VGA) are built into the top of the work station.
    2. You can connect to AirMedia using the button found in the Computer tab. Enter the IP address on the screen into a browser on your device and when prompted, enter the room code. If you have not used AirMedia before, you will have to download the software to your computer.
    3. DVD/VCR can be played with the player located in the equipment rack.
    4. Blu-ray can be played with the player located in the middle of the equipment rack in the work station.
    5. TV input can be changed via the touch screen (located under TV tab).
    6. CD can be played from the DVD player, insert into the CD tray.
    7. Document camera can be selected and adjusted from the touch screen control.
    8. Auxilary devices can be connected via the aux cord provided in the cable cubby.
  4. To turn the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control.

 

3.) Projector (Canon)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (Desktop, HMDI, VGA, DVD/VCR, Composite, Blu-ray, TV, CD, Doc Cam, and AUX).
  3. Turn the system off by pressing the System Off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.

 

4.) Document Camera (Wolfvision)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Select the document camera on the touch screen control.
  2. Document camera is ready for use.
  3. Adjustments to zoom or lamp use can be made on the touch screen control.
  4. To turn the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control or select another input to use.
