What is Cisco Secure Endpoint Client?
Cisco Secure Endpoint Client (formerly AMP for Endpoints) is designed to prevent, detect, and help remove threats from computer systems. Threats can take the form of software viruses and other malware such as ransomware, worms, Trojans, spyware, adware, and fileless malware. This antivirus solution continuously scans computer systems for malicious software. Cisco Secure Endpoint updates are managed by the university to help ensure systems remain protected against current threats.
All university-owned Windows and Mac computers are provided with the Cisco Secure Client already installed.
What to do if you think your computer is infected
Windows Computers
To run a virus scan on your computer:
1.) Type 'Cisco Secure Client' into the Start menu search bar and open the 'Cisco Secure Client' application.
2.) Under the 'Secure Endpoint' section, click the drop-down arrow to select the type of scan. You will be presented with the option to run several different types of scans. Once you have selected the type of scan, click the "Start" button to begin the scan.

- Flash Scan: Scans the processes running and the files and registry entries used by those processes.
- Custom Scan: Scans a particular file path that you give it.
- Full Scan: Scans the running processes, the registry entries, and all the files on disk. This scan can be very resource-intensive.
- Rootkit Scan: Scans the computer for signs of installed rootkits.
3.) When you start a scan, a window showing scan progress should appear. You will have the option to pause or stop the scan.
4.) Once the scan is complete, a results window will appear.
Mac Computers
To run a virus scan on your computer:
1.) Open the 'Secure Endpoint Connector' app by clicking the 
icon on the menu bar.
2.) From the drop-down list, select 'Scan', then choose the type of scan you want to run. You will be presented with the option to run several different types of scans.

3.) To check the status or results of the scan, open the 'Secure Endpoint Connector' application by clicking the icon on the menu bar, then select 'Settings' from the menu. Scan results are listed under the 'Details' section.
