Fire Panel Alarm: Report an Issue

Overview 

The purpose of addressing a troubled phone line for a fire alarm panel is to ensure continuous and reliable communication between the fire alarm system and the monitoring center, which is essential for life safety on Elon Campus. This response focuses on promptly identifying, diagnosing, and resolving any issues affecting the phone line's functionality to maintain the system's ability to transmit alerts and comply with operational and regulatory requirements. 

Process 

Campus Safety is the first point of contact for all fire alarm issues. 

  • Campus Safety should contact Facilities\Electricians as the first responder\troubleshooting owner. If a phone line issue is found by Facilities\Electricians, Campus Safety will: 

  • During work hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday) 

  • The following dropdown options will determine the response time for each reported issue: 

  • The “Impact” drop-down - specify the area affected (Single-User, Classroom/Lab, Department, Building, Campus.  If there is more than one building, please select Campus. 

  • The “Urgency” drop-down – Select “Work Stopped” from the drop-down menu  

During off hours:  

  • The “Impact” drop-down - specify the area affected (Single-User, Classroom/Lab, Department, Building, Campus). If there is more than one building, please select Campus. 

  • The “Urgency” drop-down – Select “Work Stopped” from the drop-down menu  

  • If it’s a Residential building (and listed below) call Fire Alarm/ Phone Line Emergency Pager: (336) 698-3576 

  • If it’s an Academic/Administrative building and ONLY ONE phone line is down, it will be dealt with the following day. 

  • If it’s an Academic/Administrative building and BOTH phone lines are down call the Fire Alarm/ Phone Line Emergency Pager.
