OneDrive for Windows Devices

Summary

Overview of using One Drive on Windows devices.

Body

OneDrive is also available as part of the Office 365 software plan. The OneDrive desktop client provides an easy way to access files stored in your OneDrive account. Any files saved in your OneDrive folder will be synced to the cloud, allowing you to access them from anywhere with an internet connection by logging into your email at email.elon.edu.

When you first open OneDrive using the Windows desktop client (found under All Programs -> OneDrive), you may be prompted to sync your library.

If you see the window below, stop there. You are using an old version. Please go online and log in to OneDrive through the Elon email portal and download the new version.

1.) Go to https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/download/ and select Download

2.) To install OneDrive, navigate to the folder where it was downloaded on your computer, typically the Downloads folder, and run the installation file.

3.) Once installed it may appear as though nothing has occurred, but a small blue cloud icon will show up in the bottom right corner of your screen (see below):

4.) Double-click the icon, and you will be asked to sign in. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the setup.

5.) Upon completion, the file explorer window will automatically open, displaying the contents available in your OneDrive.

Important: Please note that there may be two instances of OneDrive showing in File Explorer. You will always use the "OneDrive - Elon University" folder. Ignore the other.
