How To Set Your Power and Screen Saver Settings on a Windows Device

This instructions will point you in the direction of areas where you may change your power settings and your screen saver settings.

Power Settings

This image shows how to set power options: 1 is the path to follow through the control panel; 2 is the balanced power settings option; and 3 is how to change your power saving plan settings.

  1. Open the Control Panel and locate 'Power Options.'
  2. Check that 'Balanced (recommended)' is selected.
  3. Click 'Change plan settings.'

Edit Plan Settings

  • Here, you can change the settings for when your display turns off and when your computer goes to sleep. We recommend turning the display off after 5 minutes of inactivity, and 15 minutes of inactivity before the computer goes to sleep.
  • Make sure to save your changes!

Personalize your Screen Saver

This image is how to personalize your screen saver; with 1 as the path through the control panel; and 2 as the options to change screen savers.

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel, then select Personalization.
  2. Click 'Screen Saver.'

Choose your settings

This is an image of options for screen saver settings.

  • To set personal photots as your screen saver, select 'Photos.'
  • To further personalize these options, click 'Settings...' and make the desired changes.
