Installing Syncplicity

Syncplicity is being phased out as the university's data backup solution. All faculty and staff should begin transitioning to Microsoft OneDrive for data backup. If you have additional questions, please contact the Technology Service Desk.

Getting started with Syncplicity will enable you to safely and securely back up your important Elon-related files to the cloud. Faculty and staff will receive an email indicating they have been registered with Syncplicity.

Do NOT run this on your personal computer. This MUST be run on your primary Elon-owned computer.

1.) Go to www.syncplicity.com and click on 'Login' near the top of the page

2.) Enter your full Elon email address and click next (this is how it recognizes the corporate account)

3.) It will bring you to an Elon login page. Enter your email username and password

4.) From here, it'll bring you to the main Syncplicity page for your account. What you see here will be your default backed up folders from your work computer.

5.)On the top right corner, click the 'Install' menu and another window will open. From the new window, click 'Download Syncplicity'.  

You will be asked to run or save depending on the browser. If it says run, run it and keep all default settings until what you see matches the screens below. If it says save, click save and go to the download arrow (Mozilla) at the upper right-hand area of the browser.

6.) Clicking on the Syncplicity_Setup will start the process of installation. Please accept the installation and keep all settings to default.

After that point, your screen should look identical to the below. Identify your account by entering your Elon email (no password) (1), make sure 'Login using corporate account' is checked (2), and click 'Login' (3).

You will not be able to enter a password on this screen.

7.) Select all folders listed and click 'Next'

These are the default locations Syncplicity backs up to the cloud.

8.) Click 'Next' (Don't worry about changing the information on this screen)

9.) Now, you can walk through the tutorial for Syncplicity (1) or click 'Next' (2) to finish the installation

10.) You can now access Syncplicity by clicking the icon in the lower right-hand corner of your computer's toolbar
