This room is located on the second floor of Carlton and serves as a classroom with seating for 36 people. This classroom includes 3 projectors, a desktop computer, AirMedia, and a touch panel controlling the entire room. This room is ideal for group work, discussions, and presentations as each projector in the classroom can display something different at the same time.

How to Use Room: Base Level Operations

  1. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (Desktop, Laptop, Airmedia, DVD, local HDMI).
    Laptop/Device inputs are built into the cable cubby at the table top of the work station.
  3. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  4. Login with your Elon username and password, then when done you can turn the system off by pressing the System Off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.
  5. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Windows button on the bottom left side of the desktop).

1.) Touch Screen Control (Crestron)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the screen to turn on the system or press the power button on the right. The system will take 30 seconds to warm up.

  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (as shown below).

  3. To turn the system off, press the power button located on the top right of the touch panel control.

  4. Select the "YES, Shut Down System" button (in blue) to turn off the system.

Desktop Instructions

  1. Check that the computer is turned on and you are logged in.
  2. Select the "Desktop" option on the touch panel controller.

Laptop Instructions

  1. Select the "Laptop" option on the touch panel controller.

  2. Plug in your device using the HDMI cord located in the middle of the desk.

  3. Ensure that your device is on.

DVD Instructions

  1. The DVD player is located in the cabinet beneath the computer.

  2. Tap on the DVD tab on the touch panel.

  3. The touch panel will display DVD controller buttons.
  4. Insert your DVD into the player.
  5. Use the buttons displayed to control the DVD player.

Additional Touch Panel Instructions (ADVANCED)

  1. Use the "Break Out" option to display one of the available AirMedia sources on each projection screen.

  2. Use the "Custom" option to choose what source is displayed on each projection screen and to select of there is sound or not.
    If the touch screen control displays the following image that means there is NOT a source selected for the "Custom" option. Once an option is selected the screen will no longer be blank.

2.) Desktop Computer (Dell)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the right side of the desktop.

  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 30 seconds to warm up.
  4. Select Desktop on the Touch Screen Control to display the desktop on the projector screen.
  5. To power the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control.
  6. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Windows button on the bottom left side of the desktop screen).

 

3.) Projector (Canon)

Basic Instructions

  1. Touch the touch panel to turn on the system. It should take about 30 seconds to warm up and turn on.

  2. Use the touch panel to select the desired input.
  3. To turn off the system, press the power button on the top right of the touch panel.

 

4.) AirMedia (Crestron)

AirMedia is a completely wireless way to present/project information from any mobile device and it makes presentations and collaboration fast and easy. There are three AirMedias in Carlton 221 which allows multiple students to connect at a time.

AirMedia Instructions

  1. Select one of the "AirMedia" options on the touch screen control.

  2. A screen projecting all the same information as on the touch screen control will be shown for the classroom occupants to see.

  3. If you are using a Mac and require sound to be played through the room speakers, you will need to download SoundFlower. Click here for instructions on how to download it.
  4. If you have never used AirMedia for this room, you will have to go to the navigate to the room's AirMedia website to download this room's AirMedia software.

  5. Download the AirMedia software by clicking on the respective download buttons.

  6. Once you have downloaded it, locate it in your download folder and then open it.

  7. A small panel will appear on your device with an input box.

  8. Type in the Room Code that is projected at the top right of the projected screen into the input box on your device.

  9. Press the "Connect" button, and your device screen will appear on the projected screen.

  10. To stop presenting, click on the stop button.

5.) Wall Plates

  1. In the front of the room there is an additional wall plate where a computer can be connected via an external HDMI cable.

  2. Additionally there are two other wall plates that function the same way at the back of the classroom.

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. In order to use these wall plates turn on the system and select "Local HDMI" on the touch screen control once the device is connected.

  2. Connect device to the wall plate via an external HDMI cable (An HDMI cable will be located in the drawer in the rack).

  3. The corresponding screen above the wall plate will display the input from the connected device.

Additional Room Features

16 Mobile white boards are available throughout the room for the use of students and professors. The whiteboards can be pulled away from the walls and adjusted as demonstrated in the images below.

There are also 2 portable charging stations available for use that include USB and electrical outlets.
