This room is located on the second floor of Schar. It is a conference room that has conference calling capabilities, a conference table with rolling chairs, a desktop computer, a projector, and a camera.

How to Use Room: Base Level Operations

  1. Tap the touch panel controller (Crestron) to turn on the system.
  2. Once the system is on, select which input you would like to display on the touch panel.
  3. If the desktop is selected and a blue screen is displayed that says, "No input found," make sure to check the computer on the rack is powered on.

1.) Touch Panel Control (Crestron)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Tap the touch panel to turn on the system.
  2. Select the input that you want to display through projector.
  3. Tap the power button located on the top right of the touch panel to turn off the system.
  4. Tap the "YES Shut Down System" button.

Phone Instructions

  1. Tap on the Phone tab on the touch panel.

  2. Dial the number 8 followed by the number you wish to call, then press the "Call" button.

  3. To start a conference call, you have to be calling one person on Line 1, then switch to Line 2.

  4. Dial the number 8 followed by the number you want and click on the "Call" button.
  5. Click on the "Conference" button to start a conference call between the two numbers.

Desktop Instructions

  1. The Desktop Computer is located in the bottom left cabinet in the front of the room.
  2. Tap on the Desktop tab on the touch panel.
  3. There is a wireless keyboard and mouse that is usually located at the front of the room on the counter near the touch panel.
  4. Log into the desktop using your Elon email and password.

DVD Instruction

  1. The DVD player is located in the bottom left cabinet in the front of the room.
  2. Insert your DVD into the player.
  3. Tap the DVD tab on the touch panel.
  4. It will display the DVD controller button.
  5. Use the buttons displayed on the touch panel to control the DVD player.

2.) Projector (Canon)

Basic Instructions

  1. Tap the touch panel to turn on the projector.
  2. It takes about 30 seconds for the projector to warm up and turn on.
  3. Select an input option on the touch panel to display.
  4. To turn off the projector, tap the power button on the touch panel.
  If the projector does not turn on, check to make sure the projector has a red or green light on the side of it.

3.) Desktop Computer

  1. Make sure that the Crestron system is on.
  2. Select Desktop on the touch panel.

  3. The desktop is located in the cabinets below the monitor.

  4. If the desktop does not turn on with the Crestron system, turn on the machine in the cabinet by pressing the power button located on the right.

  5. Once the desktop is turned on the system should display the login screen.

  6. Use the wireless keyboard and mouse (located on the counter at the front of the room) to control the PC.

  7. Once turned on sign in using you Elon username and password

  If you have an issue with the wireless keyboard or mouse, try to use them on the counter at the front of the room (not the glass tabletop).

4.) Laptop Connectivity

Basic Operating Instructions for HDMI

  1. Make sure that the Crestron system is on.
  2. Select HDMI on the touch panel.

  3. Plug your device in using the HDMI cord located next to the touch panel.

Basic Operating Instructions for AirMedia

  1. Make sure that the Crestron system is on.
  2. Select the AirMedia option on the touch panel.

  3. Once you have selected the AirMedia option, a screen similar to the one below will be projected.

  4. If you haven't used AirMedia before, you will have to download it by clicking the respective download button.
  5. Once you downloaded the AirMedia file, open it:

  6. If you look on the projector screen you will see a Room Code in the top right corner, enter that code into the box that looks like the one below:

  7. Click continue once the code is entered and your screen should be projected on to the screen.
  8. If sound isn't coming out, check the volume on the Creston panel.

Additional Room Features

Basic Operating Instructions for Webex

  1. Click here to login to Webex.
  2. If you are using Google Chrome, and do not have the Webex plugin yet, you may install it. Alternatively, you have the option of running an executable application, as shown on the bottom of the window.

  3. Once you're logged in, you will see the screen shown below.

  4. To start a meeting, click on the green button that says, "Start a Meeting."
  5. To invite others to your meeting you can either click the invite button at the top right of the screen shown below.

  6. Or you can invite people once the meeting has started by clicking the invite button in the photo below:

  7. An important thing to note are the sound settings. Navigate to the "Audio" tab and then to "Computer Audio Settings...".

  8. Make sure the speaker settings are set to "intel(r) display audio" and the microphone settings are set to "echo cancelling speakerphone."

  9. Test to make sure the sound is coming out of the speakers by clicking the "Test" button.
  10. You can increase or decrease the volume of the speakers by sliding the white dot to the right or left.
  11. Once you the settings are to your preference, click the okay button to apply them.
  12. To make the call a video call, press the video icon next to your name located on the right side of the screen as seen in below.

  13. A small video panel will appear above your name and the video button next to your name will be blue. At any point if you want to turn off your video, just click the video button again.

  14. To make the video full screen, click the expand button in the top right corner of the video panel.

  15. Note that typically, the person you're calling will be on the bigger screen and your video is displayed on smaller panel below the bigger one. If at any point you would wish to change that, double-click on the smaller panel and it should switch the videos' display.
  16. To end the call, exit full screen view by either pressing the escape button on the key board or by clicking the "Return" button on the top right of the screen.
  17. Once you are back on the screen that looks like the one below, click on the button that says "End Meeting" on the left side of the screen.

Basic Operating Instructions for Skype for Business

  1. Open Skype for Business on the computer.

  2. Login using your Elon email and password.

  3. Similarly to Webex, you have to double check the microphone and speaker settings by clicking on the settings button.

  4. A settings window similar to the one below will pop up, navigate to the "Audio Settings."

  5. In the "Audio Settings" make sure that the speaker settings are set to "intel(r) display audio" and the microphone settings are set to "echo cancelling speakerphone."

  6. To search through your contacts, use the search bar.

  7. Double click on a contact's name to start a chat.
  8. A new window will open, similar to the one below.

  9. To add more people to the conversation click on the "+" button.

  10. To start a video call with all participants of the chat, click on the video icon.

  11. Or to start just an audio call with all participants of the chat, click on the phone icon.

  12. A window similar to the one below will appear.

  13. On the left side of the window, you can see a list of the participants at the top and a chat directly below it.

  14. At any point during the call you can mute your video (which will not mute your audio) by clicking on the video icon at the bottom of the screen. To continue your video stream click on the video button again.

  15. Similarly, if you'd like to mute your audio, click on the microphone button at the bottom of the screen. To enable your microphone again click on the microphone button.

  16. To share your screen with everyone in the call, click on the computer screen icon at the bottom of the screen.

  17. Finally, to leave the call, click on the red phone button at the bottom of the screen.
