Located on the first floor of Oaks Commons, this room serves as a common room for Oaks apartment residents. This room includes a TV, 4 desktop computers, a DVD player, and a speaker system. Additionally, outside of this room there is a student print station.

1.) TV (Sharp)

Basic Operating Instructions

1. To turn TV on, press the power button on the remote or TV.
2. Turn on Harman/Kardon speaker for volume and make sure it is set to Video 1 by adjusting the source button.
3. Use the TV remote control to adjust channels
4. Use the DVD player remote control to watch DVDs. Change the input source on the TV remote to display the DVD.
5. Use the Roku remote to access Philo.
6. To turn off, press the power button on the remote or TV.

 

2.) DVD Player (Harman/Kardon)

Basic Operating Instructions

1. Turn on TV by pressing the power button on the remote or TV.
2. Set the TV to video 1 input using the source button.
3. Set the Harman/Kardon speaker to DVD to hear sound.
4. Turn on DVD Player by pressing the power button on the left of the player.

 

3.) Speakers (Harman/Kardon)

Basic Operating Instructions

1. Turn on the speakers by pressing the power button located on the left side of the unit.

   These speakers must be on in order to hear sound on the TV or DVD player.

2. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume buttons on the unit.
3. Turn off the speakers by pressing the power button located on the left side of the unit.

 

4.) Desktop Computers (Dell)

Basic Operating Instructions

1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the top left of the CPU (located to the left of the equipment rack).
2. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of both computer monitors.
3. Login with your Elon username and password.
4. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Windows button on the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window).

 

5.) Desktop (Apple)

Basic Operating Instructions

1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button located on the back left side of the computer monitor. 
2. Login with your Elon username and password.
3. To power the computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Apple button on the top left of the screen, then select Log Off or Shut Down).

• Located in Oaks Commons 106 is a kitchen for student use. This kitchen includes an oven, stove, microwave, and a refrigerator. 

• Located in Oaks Commons 106 are two vending machines for students.
