Room Summary

 

 

 

Located next to the mail room in Moseley is the Student Center, which includes several different areas for student, faculty and group use. There is the Ward Octagon (105A), a printing/charging station, a presentation area, a large seating area with TVs and computers, a kitchen (106), and the Oak Room (103).

Ward Octagon (105A)

The Ward Octagon serves as a more private meeting room within the Student Center. This area seats 20 people.

How to Use Room: Base-Level Operations

  1. Press power button on the top row of the control panel to turn on the TV.
  2. The power button will blink red as it warms up.
  3. Select either TV on the control panel to view television, or the appropriate input to connect a computer.
  4. To power off all systems, press and hold the power button on the top row of the control panel.

Turning On Device & Basic Use

  1. Press the power button on the Crestron panel located next to the TV to turn on the system.
  2. The power button will blink red as it warms up.
  3. To use the TV, select the TV button on the lower row of the Crestron panel.
  4. Use the arrows to navigate to the channels of your choice.

  • To adjust the volume, you can either choose the controls attached to the left hand side of the TV itself OR the controls on the bottom row of the control panel.

2.) Control Panel (Crestron)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Press the power button to turn on system

  3. Select input button on the top row you would prefer to use. (Labtop, HDMI, TV)
  4. Connect your computer to the input method you have selected by either using the extron wall plate (AUX, VGA, HDMI).
  5. Press and hold the power button to turn off the system.

3.) Wall Plate (Extron)

Basic Operating Instructions

HDMI
  1. Identify the bottom plug-in on the Wall Plate, as this is where you can connect your device to the main system.
  2. Insert the HDMI cord into the corresponding plug-in from your device.
  3. Your device will then be connected to the necessary equipment.
Audio
  1. Identify the first plug-in on the wall plate, as this is where you can connect any available AUX cord to your device.  
  2. Insert the AUX cord from your device (either a computer, iPod, cell-phone, etc.) and into the corresponding AUX plug-in.
  3. You should then be able to adjust the volume via your own specific device in connection to the main system.
  4. In the event that the audio does not connect properly, always check your volume settings under 'playback devices' and make sure the device you are connecting to is dispalyed.  If not, either wait for the device to add itself OR try re-connecting the device.
Computer
  1. Identify the middle plug-in on the Extron panel, as this is where you can connect your computer to the main system.
  2. Insert the computer/VGA cord into the corresponding middle plug-in.
  3. You should then be able to directly connect your computer to the system.

Oak Room (103)

 

 

 

 

The Oak room serves as a area for studying, group meetings, and as a lounge area for students and faculty.

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Press the power button on the Crestron panel located next to the TV to turn on the system.
  2. The Crestron panel will take 15 seconds to warm up.
  3. To use the TV, select the desired input on the crestron.
  4. Press the power button on the crestron panel next to the TV to turn off the system.

2.) Touch Panel Control (Crestron)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the screen to turn on the system. The system will take 15 seconds to warm up.

  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (TV, HDMI, Roku, Blu-Ray)
  3. Press IMAGE MUTE, located on the top left to mute the screen image and adjust the height of the projector screen.
  4. To turn the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control.

Printing Station

This area serves as a public printing station for Elon students and faculty.

 

 

 

How to Use: Base-Level Operations:

Printer Station

  1. Select HP_Printer_on_Pharos01 when printing.
  2. Type in your Elon username in the pop up window.
  3. Swipe Phoenix Card at the printing station.
  4. Select which documents sent to the print that you want to print.
  5. Click the print button.

Presentation Area

This area serves as a area for studying, group meetings, and presentations. The area has drop down screen for presentations and has seating for 16 people.

How to Use: Base-Level Operations

  1. Touch the touch screen to start the system.
  2. Initial screen allows for audio adjustments.
  3. Hold the power button on the right side of the touch screen to power on the presentation system.
  4. Select appropriate computer input method on the touch screen and the location of the input (Front Inputs are under the screen, Rear Inputs are on the column under the projector.
  5. To power off all systems, hold the power button on right side of the touch screen.

4. If using Wall Inputs, select the appropriate input from the right of the touch screen (HDMI IN Front, VAG PC IN Front, HDMI IN Rear, VGA PR IN Rear).

5. Select Blu-ray to play Blu-ray media content.

6. Select Cable TV to play cable television.

2.) Projector (NEC)

 

 

 

 

 

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Access projector controls from touch screen.
  2. Select projector control button on the botton left of the touch screen.
  3. Power on project by pressing the green ON button.
  4. Adjust projector image, audio, and screen from middle of the touch screen.
  5. Power off projector by pressing the red OFF button.

Quad TV Seating Area

This area serves as a study or lounge area for students and faculty. This area features four TVs mounted on the wall, two iMac computers, and can seat around 25 people.
