How to Use Room: Base Level Operations
This room serves several different learning purposes. It may be operated as a standard classroom, as a SMART Board lab, or as a lab for separate group work. Mooney 206 seats 30 people.

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Press the touch screen to power on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to turn on.
  4. Select a SMART Board to activate with the instructor station and projector.
    If no selection is made, the system will default to turning on all SMART Boards.
  5. Turn the system off by pressing the off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.
  6. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (Click the windows button in the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window).

1.) Desktop (Dell)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  4. Select Desktop from computer inputs to display the desktop on the projector screen.
  5. To power the system off, press the off button located on the top right of the touch screen control.
  6. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (Click the windows button in the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window)

 

2.) Touch Screen Control (Crestron)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the screen to turn on the system.
  2. Select start up configuration or the system will select all projectors.

  3. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input.
  4. Desktop input is selected from the bottom left of the input options.

  5. Extended Desktop displays the additional instructor station screen.

  6. Laptop inputs are located in the instructor station cable cubby. Select either HDMI or VGA.

  7. AirMedia allows for devices to be wirelessly connected to the system for presentation.

  8. DVD can be played using the JVC player, located in the middle of the left column of the equipment rack.

  9. VCR can be played using the JVC player, located in the middle of the left column of the equipment rack.

  10. Cable TV input can be changed via the touch screen.

  11. Document Camera can be selected and adjusted via the touch screen.

  12. Auxiliary inputs allow for additional devices to be connected via composite or aux cords, located in the built in to the top of the work station.

  13. To add an event to the system schedule, press the Schedule button located in the bottom right corner of the touch screen.

  14. For help press the help button for a brief description of how the system operates, and the phone number for the Technology Service Desk.

  15. To adjust the projector, press the Displays button located in the top right corner of the touch screen.

  16. To turn the system off, press the off button located on the upper right of the touch screen control.

3.) Projector (NEC)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (Desktop, Extended Desktop, Laptop, AirMedia, DVD, VCR, Cable TV, Document Camera, Auxilary).
  3. Turn the system off by pressing the System Off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.

 

4.) Document Camera (Wolfvision)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Select the document camera on the touch screen control.
  2. Document camera is ready for use.
  3. Adjustments to zoom or lamp use can be made on the touch screen control.
  4. To turn the system off, press the off button located on the top right of the touch screen control or select another input to use.

 

5.) SMART Board Projector (NEC)

Basic Operating Instructions

  2. Select a SMART Board to activate with the instructor station and projector.

6.) SMART Board (SMART)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Press the touch screen to power on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to turn on.
  4. Select a SMART Board to activate with the instructor station and projector.

  5. To write on the board, select a pen option on the right side of the SMART board.

    1. Pen color can be changed by pressing the colored buttons in front of the eraser.

  6. To erase board writing, either use the eraser or use your hand in a fist erase.
  7. To type information on to the screen, press the keyboard button located to the left of the eraser.
  8. To right click on the screen, press the mouse button located to the right of the eraser.
  9. Turn the system off by pressing the off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.

 

5.) Web Camera (Avaya)

Available Cords

Below is a list of the available cords in Mooney 206.

Cord Function 
VGA (2) and Audio (3) Used to connect personal computer.
HDMI (1)  Used to connect to your personal computer, as well as other compatible devices.

Room Display Options

Mooney 206 allows for three display options: Present, Breakout, and Custom. These features allow for different teaching styles, and varying room applications.

Present Mode

This mode allows the instructor to control all of the avaiable screens in the room. SMART Boards in the classroom will mirror the selected input from the instructor station.

Breakout Mode

This mode allows for SMART Boards to act individually, and to receive different inputs. This mode allows for in depth group work.

Basic Operating Instructions: Individual SMART Board

  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the middle of the CPU (located next to each SMART Board)
  2. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  3. Login with your Elon username and password.
  4. To input another device onto the SMART Board, select the input method using the wall input control (located on the right of the SMART Board), and connect the device with the provided cords.

  5. While in Breakout Mode, sound is provided by the speakers on either side of the SMART Board. These may be powered on or off by switching the power button located on the underside of the left speaker.
  6. To power the computer off, click the Shut Down button (Click the windows button in the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window). 
  7. To power the SMART Board off, press the OFF button located on the input control to the right of the SMART Board.

Custom Mode

This mode allows for a custom selection of display devices in the room. SMART Boards may be mirrored, turned off, or use for another task seperate from the instructor station. To choose a custom option for a display, choose the appropriate input for the desired projector, then select the display.

Basic Operating Instructions: Individual SMART Board

  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the middle of the CPU (located next to each SMART Board)
  2. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  3. Login with your Elon username and password.
  4. To input another device onto the SMART Board, select the input method using the wall input control (located on the right of the SMART Board), and connect the device with the provided cords.

Mooney 206 is an AirMedia capable room, however only four different devices may be connected at one time.

The instructor station includes the desktop computer, additional desktop monitor, touch screen control, telephone, document camera, DVD player, VCR player, as well as a built in cable cubby with device inputs for: 1) Electrical, 2) HDMI, 3) Audio for VGA, 4) Ethernet, 5) VGA, and 6) Composite for external devices.
