iMac Won't Power On

Occasionally if there are power issues this can cause an iMac not to power on. If a user is experiencing this issue they may need to reset the System Management Controller or SMC.

How to reset the SMC (System Management Controller)

  1. Unplug the power cord from either the back on the iMac computer or from the wall outlet if this can be reached.

  2. Wait for 10 seconds
  3. Plug power cord back, then try powering on the iMac.
