This room is a lab on the second floor of McMichael. It can hold 30 students. It is used as the intro to physics lab, however, other classes can be held here as well.

How to Use Room: Base Level Operations

  1. Touch the screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (CMPTR, DVD, VCR, CD, Doc Cam, Aux).
    Laptop/Device inputs are built into the top of the work station.
  3. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the top right of the CPU (located on the top of the equipment rack).
    The desktop computer in the room is the default computer.
  4. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  5. Login with your Elon username and password.
  6. Turn the system off by pressing the System Off button located on the top right side of the touch screen control.
  7. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Windows button on the bottom left side of the desktop, the Shut Down button is located to the right of the display window).

1.) Touch Screen Control (Crestron)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the screen to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.

  2. Use the touch screen control to select the desired input (CMPT, DVD, VCR, CD, Doc Cam, Aux).
  3. Press IMAGE MUTE, located on the top left to mute the screen image and adjust the height of the projector screen.

  4. To turn the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control.

CMPTR Instructions

  1. Follow the instructions on the display

DVD Instructions

  1. The DVD player is located in the cabinet beneath the computer.
  2. Insert your DVD into the player.
  3. Tap on the DVD tab on the touch panel.
  4. The touch panel will display DVD controller buttons.
  5. Use the buttons displayed to control the DVD player.

VCR Instructions

  1. The VCR player is located in the cabinet beneath the computer.
  2. Insert your VCR into the player.
  3. Tap on the VCR tab on the touch panel.
  4. The touch panel will display DVD controller buttons.
  5. Use the buttons displayed to control the DVD player.

CD Instructions

  1. The CDs can be played from the Dell CPU.
  2. Insert your CD into the player.
  3. Tap on the CD tab on the touch panel.
  4. The touch panel will display CD controller buttons.
  5. Use the buttons displayed to control the CD player.

AUX Instructions

  1. Other devices can be connected via the composite input.
  2. Tap on AUX tab on the control panel.

  3. The touch panel will display the AUX device options.
    You need to bring your own connection for the alternative device that is going to be used.

Advanced Operating Instructions

  1. You can change which input Projector 1 is displaying by selecting the "Proj 1" button on the left of the touch screen control

  2. When you first go to change the input on Projector 2 by selecting the "Proj 2" button on the left of the touch screen control, it will be off

  3. To use "Proj 2" on you can touch the "On" button and then select which input you want the projector to display.

  4. You can change which source Audio is playing by selecting the "Audio" button on the left of the touch screen control

2.) Desktop (Dell)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the bottom-right side of the computer.
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the system. The system will take 45 seconds to warm up.
  4. Select Desktop from CMPTR to display the desktop on the projector screen.
  5. To power the system off, press the System Off button located on the top-right of the touch screen control.
  6. To turn the computer off, press the power button on the bottom-right side of the computer.

3.) Laptop (Dell)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the top right of keyboard. 
  2. Login with your Elon username and password.
  3. To power the desktop computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Windows button on the bottom left side of the screen).

4.) Smart Board (SMART Technologies)

Basic Operating Instructions
  1. Turn on computer by pressing the power button on the top right of the CPU (located on the right column of the equipment rack).
  2. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  3. Login with your Elon username and password.
  4. Press the ON button on the control panel in order to turn on the SMART Board system.
  5. To write on the board, select a pen option on the right side of the SMART board.
    1. Pen color can be changed by pressing the colored buttons in front of the eraser.
  6. To erase board writing, either use the eraser or use your hand in the shape of a fist to erase.
  7. To type information on to the screen, press the keyboard button located to the left of the eraser.
  8. To right click on the screen, press the mouse button located to the right of the eraser.
  9. Press and hold the OFF button on the control panel to turn off the SMART Board system.

5.) Projector (Canon)

Basic Operating Instructions
  1. Touch the touch screen control to turn on the projector.
  2. Touch the touch screen control to mute the projector.
  3. Turn the projector off by pressing the System Off button on the top right side of the touch screen control.

6.) Document Camera (Wolfvision)

Basic Operating Instructions
  1. Select the document camera on the touch screen control.
  2. Document camera is ready for use.
  3. Adjustments to zoom or lamp use can be made on the touch screen control.
  4. To turn the system off, press the System Off button located on the top right of the touch screen control or select another input to use.

Additional Room Features: 

  • Installed in the top of the instructor work station is a cable cubby which provides inputs for: 1) Electrical, 2) VGA, 3) Ethernet, 4) USB, 5) Audio for VGA, and 6) Composite for external devices.
