The IT Knowledge Base (KB) is a collection of documentation that includes answers to frequently asked questions, how-to guides, and troubleshooting instructions related to technology on campus. It is designed to help you find solutions to your technology needs without having to ask for help. The KB is organized into categories of related articles and can be searched by drilling into each category or by keyword searching. Remember to sign in with your Elon credentials for full access.
Access the IT Knowledge Base
You can access the Knowledge Base from the IT Self-Service Portal homepage or by going directly to Knowledge Base category page.
Search the IT Knowledge Base
You can search the Knowledge Base by drilling down into the category your issue falls into or by using the portal search bar at the top of the page.
Search by Category
Each category groups similar or related technology articles. Here are some examples:
- When looking for articles related to Moodle, select the Instructional Technologies & Spaces category.
- When looking for articles related to email or conferencing tools, select the Communication & Collaboration category.
- When looking for articles related to technology hardware, software, or Canon printers, select the Hardware, Software, & Printing category.
Once you select a category, drill down into the subcategory to locate the article you need.
Search by Keyword
You can type keywords into the search bar at the top of the IT Self-Service portal to help narrow down your search results and more quickly find what you are looking for. Click the globe icon next to the search bar and select Knowledge Base so that your search results will only include Knowledge Base articles. Here are some keyword search examples:
- If you are searching for articles related to Colleague, filter your search to only the Knowledge Base and enter "Collueague" into the search bar. Scroll the search results to find the article you want or refine your keyword search to be more specific.
- Looking for articles related to the Canon printers? Filter your search to only the Knowledge Base and enter "Canon" into the search bar. Select the link for the article you need and see if that helps answer your questions.
