If your Apple computer is having issues connecting to or staying connected with Eduroam Wi-Fi, follow the steps below to resolve the problem.
1) Ensure You Are Using the Correct Username
Eduroam requires your full institutional email address, not your username.
Correct: username@elon.edu
Incorrect: username
Double-check for typos—Eduroam is sensitive to them.
2) Forget the Existing Eduroam Network
To forget the network that you're currently using:
- From the Apple menu , choose System Settings.
- Click Wi-Fi in the sidebar, then click Details next to the network you're using.
- Click Forget This Network, then click Remove to confirm.
To forget a network that you've joined before but aren't currently using:
- From the Apple menu , choose System Settings.
- Click Wi-Fi in the sidebar, then scroll down on the right and click Advanced to see the networks known to your Mac.
- Click the menu buttonNo alt supplied for Image next to the network, choose Remove From List, then click Forget to confirm.
3) Delete Any Eduroam Profile
Remove any existing Eduroam Profile
- Open the Apple menu and choose System Preferences (on macOS 11–12) or System Settings (on macOS 13+).
- Depending on your macOS version:
- macOS 11–12: Click Profiles.
- macOS 13–14: Go to Privacy & Security > Profiles.
- macOS 15+: Go to System Settings > General > Device Management.
- Find the eduROAM profile under the list of profiles.
- Select it and click the “–” (minus) button to remove it.

Remove Related Certificates
1. Open Finder and navigate to Applications > Utilities.
2. Launch Keychain Access.
3. In the search bar, type eduROAM.
4. If any certificates related to eduROAM appear, right-click and select Delete.

4) Restart Your Computer
1. Open the Apple menu.
2. Click Restart
5) Reset Network Preferences
If the previous steps did not resolve your issue, proceed with the following steps to perform a complete reset of network settings.
Note: These steps will completely remove all known WiFi networks and may remove wired network settings.
- At the top toolbar, select Go -> Computer then choose the computer's main drive. Click on the drive icon then choose Library -> Preferences -> SystemConfiguration.
- Refer to the screenshot below and remove the files shown. These are protected system files and require administrator permissions to delete. When you attempt to remove the files, a pop-up will appear requesting a username and password. Enter the user’s login credentials to authorize and complete the deletion.
