Saving Student Work Submissions Outside of Moodle

This article discusses how course instructors can save student assignment, quiz, and discussion submissions outside of Moodle for use in projects such as Promotion and Tenure documentation.

Downloading Forum Posts

  • Please note that Moodle does not have a way to bulk download all student posts for all forums within a course. You will need to repeat the following steps for every student in each forum to save all forum post data within your course.
  • In Moodle, open the forum that contains the posts you would like to download.
  • In the top navigation menu, select Reports.

  • The Reports menu will display, with data for each student on their contributions for that particular forum.
  • Use the Forum selected drop down menu at the top of the window to select the forum you would like to run the report for.
  • To export a student's posts from the forum, you can click the Export button to the right of their name.
