Webex Calling allows users access to use their personal phone line from a desk phone, computer, or a cell phone app. Below are instructions on basic usage of Webex Calling and some features of the application.

WebEx calling on a PC
- Select the caret symbol
- Select the Webex application.
WebEx calling on a Mac
On a Mac, Webex is housed in the menu bar in the top right of the screen.
- Select the Webex application to open it.
Click the "Show" checkbox to expand or hide the section.

Making Calls
When you open the Webex application, a keypad display will appear. You can use this keypad to make calls.
- If the phone number is internal to Elon, you can type in the extension to make a call.
- If the phone number is external to Elon within the United States, you must type 1 followed by the 10 digit phone number before pressing the call button.
- If the phone number is external to Elon outside of the United States, you must type 011 + country prefix + phone number.
- Another way to make calls is selecting the (+) button in the top left corner of the screen and typing in the number you want to contact.
- To the right of the (+) is a search bar. You can search someone by name, number, or username if they are an Elon staff or faculty member with a phone extension.
- if you want to contact someone outside of the Elon system, you must first add them to your contacts.
Display During Calls
This is the display that will appear during a call:
Mute Yourself on a Call
Select "Mute" at the bottom of the screen.
Put a Call on Hold

Select the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen.

This display will appear:
- Select "Hold from the available options.
Transfer a Call

Select the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen.

Select "Transfer" from the available options. This display will appear:

Type in the extension of the person you want to transfer the call to. You can search by name and Elon username.

Then press the green arrow to the right of the contact. This display will appear:

Select transfer at the bottom of the screen again.
Conference Call
Once you are on a call with a person:
- Select the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen
- Select "Conference" from the available options
- Type in the extension of the person you would like to add to the call. You can also search by name and Elon username.
- Select call. This display will appear:
- Select the green "Merge Call" button at the bottom of the screen to create a conference call.
Click the "Show" checkbox to expand or hide the section.
Voicemail
Reset Your Voicemail Pin
If you know the pin:
- Call your extension
- Once you hear "Welcome to your voice messaging system", input your voicemail passcode and press #.
- Press 4 on the keypad
- Type in the new pin
If you do not know the pin:
- Go to settings.webex.com
- Log-in
- Select Settings on the Left
- Select the voicemail tab
- Choose "Reset pin"
Accessing Voicemail in the Webex Application
You can access voicemails by selecting "Voicemail" in the sidebar. Select on a Voicemail to listen to it.
Accessing Voicemail Using Your Extension
To access your voicemail using your university extension on your physical phone or the Webex app:
- Dial your 4-digit extension
- Once you hear "Welcome to your voice messaging system", input your voicemail passcode and press #.
- Then you can listen to your messages, change your greeting, or change your voicemail passcode.
Accessing Voicemail from Your Cell Phone
- Call your full 10 digit phone number (336-278-____)
- Let it ring to voice mail
- Press the * key on the keypad.
- Once you hear "Welcome to your voice messaging system", input your voicemail passcode and press #.
- Then you can: listen to your messages, change your greeting, or change your passcode.
Accessing a Different Extensions Voicemail
This process can be helpful for accessing department voicemail boxes.
On-Campus
- Call your 4-digit extension.
- Once you hear "Welcome to your voice messaging system", press the * key.
- Enter the 4-digit extension that you would like to access and press #.
- Enter the voicemail passcode associated with that account.
- Then you can listen to your messages, change your greeting, or change your passcode.
Off-Campus
- Call your full 10 digit phone number (336-278-____).
- Let it ring to voice mail and then press the * key on the keypad.
- Once you hear "Welcome to your voice messaging system", press * and enter the 4-digit extension of the account you would like to access and press #.
- Enter the passcode associated with that mailbox and press the # key.
- Then you can listen to your messages, change your greeting, or change your passcode.
Click the "Show" checkbox to expand or hide the section.
Settings
For basic settings usage, select settings in the Webex application.
For more in-depth settings usage, go to settings.webex.com to adjust your account to your personal preferences.
- Here you can also change your voicemail pin, change your do not disturb hours, and create and change voicemail greetings.
