Set Up Assessment Factors in AppTrack


The assessment factors that you can add to a posting depend on the posting form.

When you add an assessment factor to a posting, you also need to set up the scoring. If it is an assessment criterion that uses review board weighted scoring, there are additional tasks: The review boards must be defined and each applicant must be assigned to a review board.

Work with postings in the APPLICANT TRACKING module. Open the appropriate posting to set up assessment factors; each type is on a separate tab. The posting form might not use all types of assessment factors.


In place of supplemental questions, your organization may use a term such as screening questions or minimum qualification questions.

In place of ranking criteria, your organization may use a term such as evaluative criteria or interview questions.

In place of assessment criteria, your organization may use a term such as tests or hurdles. The set of assessment criteria may be called an exam plan.

In place of posting, your organization may use a term such as announcementrequisitionworkforce request, or open position.

In place of applicant, your organization may use the term candidate.


To add assessment factors to a posting:

  1. If the posting form includes tabs for assessment factors, you may be able to select appropriate questions or you may need to create new ones.
  2. If the posting is not already open, locate and view it. The summary view shows any questions included in the posting. Note that your posting form may use other terms than supplemental questions, ranking criteria, and assessment criteria.
  3. If you need to add or remove assessment factors to the posting, follow the Edit link to open the appropriate area of the posting.
  4. To add an assessment factor of the selected type, select Add. This control shows the type of assessment factor you are adding. A dialog box presents available items, and includes an option to create a new one.
  5. Do at least one of these things:
    • Select at least one assessment factor from the list. If you are adding a ranking criterion, select the workflow state at which it is evaluated.
    • To create a new assessment factor, follow the link to Add a new one. A dialog box opens to guide you in creating the question. Continue as for creating the appropriate type of assessment factor.
  6. Select Submit to add your assessment factors to the posting, or Cancel to return to the posting without adding assessment factors. If your permissions do not allow you to approve new assessment factors of the type you created, the assessment factor is added pending approval. Supplemental questions in this state are not presented to applicants, and ranking criteria in this state are not presented to people involved in the candidate selection process.
  7. When you have finished making changes to the type of assessment factor you were working with, select Save. A message confirms that your changes have been saved.
