Accessing a Shared Mailbox via iOS Devices

1.) On your iOS device, navigate to Settings -> Mail, Contacts and Calendars -> Add Account

2.) Tap 'Other'

3.) Tap 'Add Mail Account'

4.) Fill out the form (instructions below image)

  1. Name - The name that will be displayed to recipients on email
  2. Email - The shared mailbox's email (e.g., sd-sharebox@elon.edu)
  3. Password - Your Elon email password
  4. Description - Anything you choose to describe teh account on your device

5.) Tap 'Next' to get to the full settings (make sure the account highlighted is IMAP) and fill out the Incoming Mail Server as follows (instructions below image)

  1. Host Name - outlook.office365.com
  2. User Name - username@elon.edu/sharedmailboxname (e.g., rgay@elon.edu/sd-sharebox)
  3. Password - Your Elon email password.

6.) Scroll down to the 'Outgoing Mail Server' section and fill out the form (instruction below image)

  1. Host Name - smtp.office365.com
  2. User Name - username@elon.edu
  3. Your Elon email password

7.) Tap 'Next' and wait for the server to verify your settings - When complete, you will be presented with the option of what you want to sync. Make your choices and select 'Save.'

Now you will find the shared account in your Mail app, under Mailboxes, with the description of the name you gave it (pictured below).
