Finding the right service, or type of request, and submitting a ticket from the IT Self-Service Portal is one way to escalate your request directly to the team that will complete it. There are two steps to submitting a ticket:
- Search for the service using the search bar or by category.
- Submit the ticket.
Search the IT Service Catalog
You can search the Service Catalog by drilling down into the category your issue falls into or by using the portal search bar at the top of the page.
Search by Category
Each category groups similar or related technology services. Here are some examples:
- To submit a request related to Moodle, select the Instructional Technologies & Spaces category. Choose the Learning Management System subcategory to find the Moodle services available.
- Services related to email or conferencing tools are located in the Communication & Collaboration category.
- If you need to request software, select the Hardware, Software, & Printing category. Choose the Software subcategory to find the software services available.
Once you select a service, you can submit a ticket by choosing the "Submit a Request" or "Report an Issue" button.
Keyword Search

You can type keywords into the search bar at the top of the IT Self-Service portal to help narrow down your search results and more quickly find what you are looking for. Click the globe icon next to the search bar and select Service Catalog so that your search results will only include IT Services. Here are some keyword search examples:
- If you need to submit a ticket related to Colleague, filter your search to only the Service Catalog and enter "Colleague" into the search bar. Scroll the search results to find the service you want or refine your keyword search to be more specific.
- Need to submit a ticket related to the Canon printers? Filter your search to only the Service Catalog and enter "Canon" into the search bar. Select the link for the service you need and submit a ticket.
Submit
Each service page will provide a description of the service and availability, as well as instructions for submitting a ticket. If you are having trouble, something is wrong or broken, you should click the "Report an Issue" button to submit a ticket. Usually a request for a change, enhancement, or something new is a service request and you should click the "Submit a Request" button to submit a ticket.
