Bulk Email Students Enrolled in a Moodle Course

This article explains how to send bulk emails to students enrolled in a Moodle course without needing to create a Contact List in Outlook. We will review two methods:

  • "Email all" method in OnTrack
  • CSV method in Moodle

"Email all" method in OnTrack

  • Log into OnTrack
  • Navigate to your course roster by selecting Daily Work>Faculty>Faculty overview

  • Select the course you'd like to email from the list

  • Select "Email All." This will automatically copy all email addresses for current enrollments.

  • Open Outlook, create a new email, and paste the email addresses into the "To" field.

CSV method in Moodle

  • Open Moodle and navigate to the course that you would like to email. 
  • Open the course and select the "Participants" tab.
  • Select all of the enrolled participants by clicking the checkbox underneath the name column.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page. Select "With selected users..." and choose "Download data table as Comma Separated Values (.csv)"

  • This will download a CSV to your device. Open the CSV, and copy all of the email addresses in the email column.
