Setting Up Elon Email in OS X Mail for Students and Alumni

  1. Launch Mac Mail
  2. Type your:
    • Name
    • Elon University email address
    • Leave the Password field blank
    • If you get a Verify Certificate window, click Connect
  3. Select IMAP account type
  4. Type a description for the email account
  5. Type imap.gmail.com in the "Incoming Mail Server" field
  6. Type your Elon University email address in the "User Name" field ex. username@elon.edu
  7. Type your Elon University email password in the "Password" field
  8. Click Continue
  9. Check Use secure sockets layer SSL
  10. Select Password for authentication
  11. Click Continue
  12. Type a description for the Outgoing Mail Server.
  13. Type smtp.gmail.com in the "Outgoing Mail Server" field
  14. Check both the Use only this server and Use Authentication boxes
  15. Type your Elon University email address in the "User Name" field ex. username@elon.edu
  16. Type your Elon University email password in the "Password" field
  17. Click Continue
  18. Review the Account Summary window checking for errors in the data entry.
  19. Once reviewed check the box beside Take account online
  20. Click Create

Setup is complete
