Common Teaching Tools

Although the following list of instructional technology systems and applications is not exhaustive, it gives you an idea of the variety of tools you have available to you as an Elon faculty member.

Computer Labs, Classrooms, & Learning Spaces

For computer labs, classrooms, and learning spaces.

E-Portfolio Sites

An ePortfolio is a digital collection of evidence that can be used to demonstrate learning, highlight reflective practice, or showcase work. This evidence can take the form of nearly any type of digital multimedia. ePortfolios have been used at Elon to help faculty demonstrate progress on granted-funded work, establish a repository of evidence for graduating Education majors seeking state licensure, and by seniors seeking to create an attractive showcase of their skills and abilities.

Equipment Checkout

Elon offers a variety of equipment, free of charge, to the university community. Equipment can be checked out in two locations:

- Media Services, located in Belk Library, loans equipment to students, staff, and faculty for a wide variety of projects.
- The Gear Room, located in McEwen Building, loans production equipment to School of Communications students and faculty.

Both locations utilize a system called "WebCheckout" that allows patrons to view and reserve available equipment.

Learning Management System

Moodle, Elon’s official learning management system, is a course delivery system with a plethora of teaching and learning tools. Post your syllabus, create learning modules and quizzes, communicate with your class, and manage your grades all in one place.

Maker Hub

The Maker Hub is a workspace with tools, supplies, and people to help faculty, staff, and students explore ideas, learn how things work, and make stuff. There are two Maker Hub locations on campus: Downtown Elon (above Pandora's Pies) and Colonnades Building E.

Reserve a Space

Elon space reservations are processed through the 25Live scheduling and event-publishing system. Faculty and staff can check space availability, view room features and layouts, and reserve rooms through this centralized system. Students should utilize PhoenixConnect to schedule events and reserve spaces.
